The Zapotec women of Oaxaca, Mexico who embroider our apparel are passionate about color so it's logical that their favorite products to create are the vibrant ones, both for their color intensity and because they are actually simpler to embroider: the colored thread is easier to see against the fabric and the drawings for the designs more specific and distinct. Chambrays and other mid-weight cottons also appeal as the fabric doesn't slide around or get easily damaged during embroidery.
